2nd Year Graduate Competition Entry

The competition brief was to design an observation tower for the Venice Biennale pavilion area.  Slender pre-cast concrete columns echo neo-Gothic arches to create a winding, helical tunnel that leads to the observation platform.  The structure is connected with a web of steel beams and a special ‘rocker-link’ that allows the tower to sway slightly in the wind.  From above tree level, visitors can see the entirety of the park.
