This Victorian property was located on a compact terraced site with limited access to the rear where the proposed development took place. An existing conservatory was demolished and the existing kitchen opened up to enable the creation of a new open plan kitchen/dining/living space.
The new extension utilised the available sun path to naturally light the main living and dining area with roof lights and double height windows, while a pantry and utility room were located in the centre of the plan where daylight was of lower priority.
The materials palette was simple, using a clean white silicon render for the exterior facades, gloss white Italian kitchen units and a matching crystal white poured resin floor.
The construction period was 14 weeks, with practical completion achieved August 2010.
