Pink Punch v.2 Handle with Care

The light installation for Nuit Blanche 2013, Pink Punch v.2, aims to lure visitors by its color and luminance into First Canadian Place Courtyard from the street. By wrapping trees in a protective pink LED net rope, a glowing garden space is created within the dense urban fabric. This installations aims at drawing importance to utilization of trees in public spaces and calls attention to their need of stewardship.

Through the installation the visitor, understands the preciousness of this natural resource, especially in the city, and particularly in the downtown core, where vegetation is scarce. Using the material of bubble wrap hints at their fragitily, like wrapping a precious package intended for transportation. The new garden uses this traditional technique of tree wrapping, in a non-traditional way, to create a new night garden typology within the city.
