NEOM is the fi rst independent special zone within the At the Crossroads of the Globe
Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with a total area of 26,500
km2. In addition, it includes territory from within the
Egyptian and Jordanian borders. It is expected to
emerge as a leading global hub that exemplifi es the
future of human civilization by off ering its inhabitants
an idyllic lifestyle combined with exceptional economic
prospects. NEOM seeks to attract top talent from
around the world to push the boundaries of innovation
like never before and drive the growth of this zone, its
residents, the Kingdom and the Region.
Grimshaw has designed a visionary Innovation Campus
that complements the ambition and scope of the NEOM
project as a whole and the NIC goals specifcally: the
campus will be a versatile, multi-faceted R&D asset
shared by Oxagon's resident industries, startups,
and by afl iated institutes and university partners; an
innovation community that will attract and retain the
best international talent and leadership; and a venue
that will host international conferences of business
leaders and industry afl iates. In addition to these
qualities, we envision a vibrant city district ofering 24/7
amenities, sustainable fne dining, landscaped gardens
in which to explore and exercise, galleries and event
spaces, and high quality hospitality. In totality, a Place
to Dream the Future.
The design concept is inspired by the liminal
conditions of the wadi delta, where the diversity and
resourcefulness of nature is abundant at this unique
interface of the water and land. The Innovation Campus
undulates with the natural contours of the site, featuring
‘Innovation Promontories’ built atop the three existing
plateaus, alternating with public plazas and gardens as
landscaped extensions of the low-lying brackish inlets.
Meanwhile, a linear ‘Tech Spine’ connects the entire
campus from East to West, stitching together all of
the buildings and amenities and creating a fexible and
practical interface
