Spot of Tea, a small business who I met at the farmer's market on my campus, commissioned me to design the boba start-up's first brick-and-mortal location in Washington, DC while I was a senior in design school. The boba vendor is located within a grocery market known as Streets.
A year of working through palette and material choices, schematic arrangement, and multiple site changes by the landlord finally culminated in August 2021 in the built space. The bright terrazzo and flowing forms attracts patrons to the corner of the market for fun and fresh tea, free of artificial flavors and syrups.
I specified colorful, but minimal, terrazzo and light wood so that the product can stand out against a clean background. Another focal point is the row of b-kons, which are special tea brewers that are unique to Spot of Tea in the DMV area.
