Polderen "Solving Problems Using Dialogue

Polderen is defined as solving problems using dialogue. It derives from the Dutch word polder. A polder is a low-lying tract of land that forms an artificial hydrological entity, enclosed by embankments known as dikes. Polderen or the Polder Model was developed in the Netherlands to address a conscious decision making process giving diverse people a seat at the table and allowing them to contribute their ideas and unique perspectives. It has allowed the Netherlands to efficiently and effectively take into account the development and progression of the country in relationship to the unique topographical condition of being a country that is beneath sea level. As climate change continues and the Earth changes more coastal cities around the world are going to experience more intense flooding. Cities are epicenters of culture and commerce. They face the threat of literally sinking beneath the water line. There are many cities already experiencing this issue. It is clear that a conversation needs to take place
