This site is the former JCPenny retail space located within the Sumter Mall on US 76 (Broad Street) and Rast Street (Off-System) with multiple access points onto a driveway surrounding the overall mall parking area. It was reviewed for the purpose of opening an additional campus with a proposed initial enrollment of 300 students and a maximum enrollment not to exceed 450 students (2- 5th Grades) for the
site.
A conceptual site plan was provided depicting a car-rider line and parking area developed within an allotted portion of the mall parking. While school representatives indicated that there are no current plans to bus students, a separate area was included for future bus operations. It was indicated that the design professionals hired by the School District coordinate with SCDOT's School Operations Office during development of the school site plans, which are to be reviewed and concurred with per the South Carolina Department of Education’s Office of School Facilities (OSF).
