GGNRA’s intended goal is to supplement the diesel generators on Alcatraz Island with cleaner sources of electricity to the greatest extent feasible, and to identify and implement energy conservation measures that moderate energy use and green house gas emissions into the future.
The PV arrays will be located on the roofs of two historic structures on the Island, the Main Prison Building and the New Industries Building.
