Light Stone Gallery

The use of stone gabions as a thick skin to diffuse a clearstory light in the main gallery and a screen on the above deck. The quality of the stone contained in the gabions varies to allows for a differentiation in the perceived thickness of the wall. The light in the gallery is softened as it diffuses through the stone and casts shadows. The use of stone as a lighting feature presents a unusual disposition for the material allowing for the characteristics of the stone to be reexamined.
