This project was my foray into the world of Deconstruction. But it wasn't deconstruction as it has been done in the early '90's where it was a literary or theoretical deconstruction, but rather a literal one. Forcing ruins in order to have the ashes from which to build anew.
In this case, it was demolishing the prison at Alcatraz Island, which is a historical landmark, and putting a film school into the ruins of the old building. Since this was my last semester that I was at the Academy of Art University, I took some generous liberties with the design project and challenged myself by not making a 3d digital model. Instead, all the renderings are done by hand.
