About

Good Morning,

I have recently taken on another role as project coordinator at HMC Architects in Ontario, California. I'm currently working with a team that is developing an edition for a Kaiser hospital in LA County.  In the time that I've been with the company, my Revit skills have increase 10 fold. I enjoy this opportunity to work with this company and on the project.

I still work for myself as architectural designer.  I have developed designs for retail spaces and houses.  It allows me to broaden my experience with multiple construction types.

Previously, I worked for a company out of Newport Beach, CA called US CAD.  In my brief time there, I was able to become certified in Revit Architecture 2015, do a little production work and teach a few classes.   The production work ranged from a housing tract in Hawaii to parcel maps for the city of Burbank.

Prior to my time at US CAD, I worked for ITT Technical Institute of Technology, National City, Ca where I taught Architecture, BIM, and Revit. My classes consisted of 15 students that I tried to inspire through discussion of current events in Architecture. I found it enjoyable to hear what the students had to say. On many occasions, some students had changed their attitude and life towards sustainability and understand the usefulness of architecture.

I looked forward to the future when I can expand my company and/or my career into other aspects of our field.

Thank you for taking the time to review my career bio.

Joel

Project Address: Lindbergh Field, San Diego International Airport
Project Owner/ Developer: San Diego International Airport
Owner Contact Name/ Email: James Frost, jtfrost@msn.com
Project Architect/ Designer: NewSchool of Architecture and Design, Design Clinic

The NewSchool of Architecture and Design, Design Clinic, created the Gateway San Diego project to illustrate how Lindbergh Field could be integrated with local and regional transporation systems in a sustainable manner.

At the request of the Destination Lindbergh Committee and the S.D. Regional Airport Authority, the student team, led by James Frost, AIA-E, produced a long term development concept located on the north side of the airport.

The project:

integrates all regional transportion at a single location;
creates a major urban park over the parking garages;
develops an iconic landmark as a gateway to San Diego;
establishes a large economic generator through multi-use functions on and off site;
and provides a sustainable transporation solution that reduces the transporation carbon footprint resulting from less auto trips.

The project was presented to the Destination Lindbergh Committee and the Airport Authority Board of Directors and was commended for its innovative approach and solution to a critical regional issue.
