About

My passion in architecture started when I was little and this profession has always been appealing to me.

I majored in construction theories and architectural design throughout my senior high school and university years, during which I obtained many important skills and worked with a great deal of theories. During my undergraduate education, “innovative” and “problem-solving” were the two most important skills I obtained.

My work experience upon graduation also offered an exciting opportunity to work with senior architects, planners and designer in a small firm. I was fortunate to work closely with them on a daily basis and experience their unique senses of architecture and design. While working in the firm, my daily responsibilities included: involvement in design discussions, architectural graphic design, review of regulations, and on-site investigation practice.

My time as working in this architectural firm has also shown me that my interests do not lie.
I really love architecture and as a job.

Hsieh Architect & Associates (Atelier-3), Taipei, TW, Volunteer, Typhoon Morakot Reconstruction Crew

During my school years, I volunteered to participate in the Morakot disaster resettlement and
community planning. Played a part in the post-Typhoon Morakot construction solidarity project. The
project’s main purpose is to provide solutions to victims of Typhoon Morakot. Taken into
considerations of local social and economic conditions after the disaster, the reconstruction crew
cooperated with residents in the area to rebuild their homes with natural and reusable building
materials. Similar method was used in the 921 Earthquake reconstruction project that took place in
1999.
We had to work together with the tribal victims to plan and construct new homes after the massive
destruction of the typhoon. We took consideration of the social, local and economic conditions and
issues and decided to reconstruct the area with natural and reusable materials. Our goal was to
construct a place for long-term residential use, so we focused on the flexible design and made sure
the interior space was suitable for daily life.
Through working with the local residents, we successfully reconstructed and maintained their
traditional culture and spirit.
