Also over the years he has tended to take on building and developing standards, work flows as well as instructing/ teaching when needed to help build the team skills to better aid projects. All his practical experience over the years include fabrication, building, modeling, drawing through various software and experience in the field have aided me to develop a unique skill set that will be a great value to the team and projects.
School Years
Richard graduated with distinction from SCI-Arc, Southern California Institute of Architecture, with a Professional Bachelors Degree of Architecture.
For the year before prior to his thesis he worked as the Project Architect on the SCI-Arc Caltech Solar Decathlon team. He lead various designs proposals and was key to the development of various aspects of the project. One of which was the design of the exterior skin structure and the production of a full scale mock-up to test the design.
In the summer of 2011 Richard worked at Oyler Wu Collaborative. The first two months he worked closely with Dwayne Oyler developing one of three schemes for a residential tower proposal in Taipei. This consisted of development and production of presentation drawings and images. His scheme was favored and chosen by the client and went into construction documents; it is currently going into construction. The last two months of the summer he was instrumental in the steel fabrication on the SCI-Arc graduation pavilion. 11 hour days cutting steel precisely, assembling, painting, rope knitting and installing. He was charged with training proper technique when required and developed time saving methods during production.
In Richard's early days at SCI-Arc he work under Gary Paige conducting research that varied from graphic techniques, developing study models, documenting urban and building typologies. Some of this work eventually be incorporated into the LA Forum for Arch & Design Dingbat 2.0 Competition and would win a 2nd place.
