My experience spans all aspects of interior architecture efforts, from programming and space planning to design development and color & material selection, on through construction documentation and administration. I have worked on a variety of project types, with corporate office and healthcare environments being the most prominent and have collaborated directly with clients, user groups, property management, contractors and, of course, in-house principals, architects and designers. In addition to a comprehensive understanding of interior architecture practices, procedures and concerns, I have demonstrated graphic design skills, as well. A visit to my website will give you a taste of my abilities in both interiors and graphics.
Independent Designer, Interior | Graphic Designer
Both interior and graphic design projects performed on a freelance basis, while seeking full-time, long term employment.
Clark/Kjos Architects, Interior Designer
Clark/Kjos focuses on the healthcare sector. I was hired as the lead interior designer in the Seattle Office. My work encompassed all phases of interior achitecture efforts for clinic and other tenant improvement projects, including meeting with stakeholders to understand their particular requirements, desires and concerns and coordinate those directions with property management considerations. I would then move on to space planning, design development (keeping clients apprised), generating construction documents, making finish and material selections, presenting options to the clients and finishing up with participation in construction meetings. My tasks were decidedly varied with a mix of client and in-house collaboration, design, drawing, organization and communication. I also assumed the initial project management roll on small projects by writing proposals and determining projected fees, timelines and staffing requirements.
JPC Architects, Interior Designer
JPC focuses primarily on the corporate sector. It was at JPC that I had the opportunity to become proficient in AutoCAD and garnered a greater understanding of the business, code and construction components the field of interior design comprises. I also had many opportunities to vet and to specify contract furniture (including wall and furniture systems), along with lighting and finishes, for a variety of clients. As stated in the previous work history entry, my responsibilities included client meetings and presentations, budget awareness, space planning, finish and material selection, construction document generation (including all pertinent plans, schedules, elevations, details, sections, notes, etc.), FF&E specifications, and construction administration.
