About 

Kurt West is the owner of West Workshop, an award-winning architecture and design studio located in Northern Virginia. The office has completed a range of work, including renovations, residences, restaurants, office build-outs and public art installations. 

Born into a military family, Kurt grew up throughout the U.S and Europe though considers himself equally Texan as he is a Hoosier.  He received a Bachelors in Architecture from Ball State University and graduated Cum Laude with a Masters in Architecture from the University of Virginia.  Prior to launching West Workshop, Kurt apprenticed at Morphosis Architects in Los Angeles in addition to stops in Chicago, Indianapolis and Washington, DC.   Kurt is married with two children, an avid baseball fan, and is licensed to practice architecture in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Design: Created design for 2 restaurant addition/renovations and 3 commercial tenant improvement projects; Developed zoning studies for 2 multifamily condo additions in Washington, D.C.; Ensure design compliance by reviewing and interpreting building codes and ADA guidelines.

Construction Documents: Lead the preparation and production of construction documents for 2 residential and 4 hospitality projects with limited supervision; Generate, review and coordinate building details, dimensions, and schedules internally and with consultants' work.

Project Management: Review the production team’s work and assist with coordination between disciplines; Participate in bidding phase by preparing bid documents including addenda and reviewing bid proposals.

Business Operations: Train and manage junior staff’s use of Revit; Rebuilt and manage corporate website and lead weekly business development and marketing meetings; Assist owner with RFP process.
