About

I am a 2011 M. Arch I masters in architecture graduate from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, and I am currently seeking full-time work within the greater Kansas City area, though I am open to the prospect of relocating. I am hoping ideally to find a full-time junior architect/designer position so I can work towards becoming a licensed architect. However, I am also openly seeking a position in CAD drafting, technical writing, project managing or coordinating, a BIM analyst position, graphic design, or anything else related to the fields of architecture/engineering/construction/planning/design pertaining to my skills and talents.

I am also a freelance graphic designer and artist, so please feel free to contact me with any graphics projects, drawings, sketches, paintings, etc., that you may need.

Education

California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, MArch, Architecture

From the department website at http://www.csupomona.edu/~arc/march1.html

The M. ARCH I program accepts students from varied academic backgrounds, including non-design disciplines, for a three year and one quarter program, requiring the completion of 160 quarter units. For students with no previous study in architecture, two years of intensive prerequisite course work precedes the final four quarters of the Master of Architecture program. Students holding a nonprofessional bachelor of arts or bachelor of science degree, with a major in architecture, are encouraged to apply for advanced standing within the M. ARCH I graduate program. Normally, two years and one quarter of additional study in this advanced standing program would lead to the Master of Architecture degree. The final four quarters of the M. ARCH I program require 60 quarter units of academic work. Students must complete courses in college algebra, trigonometry, and physics prior to beginning this program since these courses are prerequisites to the study of design studios, structures and environmental controls.

The studio sequence consists of three segments: a two-year basic core, a two quarter group of topic studios taken jointly with fourth and fifth year B.Arch. students, and an independent project during the final quarter of design studies. Lecture classes in Architecture Theory and History, Human Behavior, Programming, Sustainability, Building Technology, Structures, Codes and Digital Media are closely coordinated with the studio sequence, and students are expected to demonstrate their knowledge of these areas in their design projects. Students are also required to take classes in the other graduate programs in the College: Landscape Architecture, Urban and Regional Planning and the John T. Lyle Center for Regenerative Studies.

The first year graduate class usually enrolls between sixteen and twenty students. The program, as a whole, has a graduate population of about seventy students. This number keeps the student/faculty ratio small, but is large enough to provide for diversity of backgrounds, experience, and accomplishments.

University of Missouri - Kansas City, Studio Art

I later came back to UMKC from January 2006 - December 2006 and continued on in the Studio Art Bachelors Degree Program. I have one semester of work left in order to obtain the degree. I did not obtain this degree due to the opportunity to take College Physics and Calculus from January 2007 - May 2007 so that I could be eligible for entry into the Architecture Program in California.
