Project Highlights

Multi-Family Housing
• Project team member for 8 Spruce Street. The New York Times calls Frank Gehry’s project, “The finest skyscraper to rise in New York since Eero Saarinen’s CBS building went up 46 years ago.” And Travel + Leisure lists it as #1 in the world’s coolest buildings.  

Commercial
• Design director for Fiori at Grand Stable & Carriage Building. 7,400 SF corporate offices. The mix of old and new creates simple dynamic spaces that contrast construction methods, light and dark, static and active forms and draw visitors through the space.
• Awarded IIDA Citation Award, October 2005; Northwest Design Awards, Second Place, Commercial Category, October 2006

Healthcare
• Design director for Rogue Valley Medical Center. 300,000 SF hospital addition and renovation project. Incorporating the natural world and involving families in a patient’s healing process were vital to guiding the interior design.
• Awarded IIDA/AIA/IDSA Interior Design Citation Award, October 2006

• Project designer for The Portland Clinic, Beaverton Offices. 32,000 SF project. Clinic functions are brick clad and anchor the glass faced public spaces, while the steel framed tower acts as a counterpoint to the building’s horizontal forms, emphasizing the entrance's importance.
• Awarded The Hammurabi Award of Merit, Oregon Masonry Institute; The 1995 Building of the Year, Association of Builders and Contractors - Northwest Region; The 1996 Building of the Year, Association of Builders and Contractors - National

Hospitality
• Project designer for Delta Air Lines, First Class Lounge at Portland International Airport. 1,800 SF. The design solution suggests the Pacific Northwest and showcases Portland's culture and values, as well as the area's relationship to the Pacific Rim.
• Awarded the Hammurabi Award of Excellence, Oregon Masonry Institute

Educational
• Project designer for Sexton Mountain Elementary School. 77,500 SF. The school’s design explored the idea of classroom clusters centred on commons spaces, which are linked by a “raceway” circulation path that encircles the Instructional Media Center.
• Awarded A.I.A. Citation of Excellence, Portland Chapter, A.I.A.; A.I.A. Craftsmanship Award, Portland Chapter, A.I.A.; NSBA Special Citation of Design Excellence, NSBA Exhibition of School Architecture

Professional Experience

Programming
• Over 12 years experience assessing client’s needs and goals, translating them into area requirements and spatial relationships.

Project Management
• Managed projects ranging in scope from a 1,100 SF retail boutique to 16,000 SF medical office building. Consistently kept projects on schedule and within budget.

Code, Building, and Area Analysis
• 15 years successfully working with the defined parameters established by current code requirements, existing building conditions and tenant requirements. Delivered in-depth analysis in a variety of areas, assuring compliance with fire and life safety, disability accommodation, IBC, BOMA and NAIOP standards.

Space Planning
• Successful at translating programmatic and code requirements into viable floor plans, maximising space efficiency whilst still maintaining clarity and cohesiveness.

Design & Detailing
• Over two decades conceptualising client’s standards and vision into a spatial solutions that reflects their business cultures and values. As design director, mentored junior staff in construction detailing of architectural and custom casework, lighting and furnishings.

Contract Documents
• 20 years of combined experience in preparing specifications and drawings. Successfully established document standards for former employers that incorporated AIA guidelines and CSI formats.
