Fayette County Public Schools, Lexington, KY, US, Substitute Teacher
I had the opportunity during the semester between undergrad and graduate school to serve as a substitute teacher in the Fayette County Public School System. I taught at every school level, from elementary through high school, and was responsible for carrying out curriculum left by the teachers for the day. I enjoy communicating and interacting in the academic environment, so this was a fun opportunity for me.
University of Kentucky, Lexington, KY, US, MArch, Architecture
As a graduate student, I have worked at both ends of the design spectrum during my first year. I had the opportunity to work on a House Boat to Energy Efficient Residence studio in which the students developed ways to revitalize the Kentucky houseboat industry as a means for producing modularized homes for state residents. The initial prototypes developed from the compiled research have been deployed in Monticello, KY.
At a different scale, the PERFORMA_12 studio, led by Mike McKay, focused on developing a spatial field created by identical units that could be fabricated without the use of any "mass production" technologies. We fabricated and installed a large system which dynamically changed the environment in which it was introduced while maintaining a uniformity from unit to unit.
University of Kentucky, Lexington, KY, US, BArch, Architecture
I completed the University of Kentucky Honor's program before pursuing my degree in architecture. Studio projects ranged from small scale conservatory cabins to large scale bridge museums, and even riverfront planning in Henderson, KY. I graduated in December 2010 "cum laude" from the College of Design.
