Andrew Simms

Washington, DC, US

About

I am a graduate of Howard University in Washington, DC. I am looking for a position that will give me the experience and knowledge often not found in the classroom. I understand that in architecture school we are taught the basic skills for what is expected in the field. I was fortunate enough to work with the New York City Department of Design and Construction the summer of 2010 as an intern and had the chance to learn and experience many opportunities my other colleagues have not had.
To be competitive in the working world one must be one step ahead. I believe I can learn not only how buildings are built in an urban environment but also how they are approved for construction and how the process takes place. Architecture has always been my passion but along with that passion I have always had an interest in urban design. I believe that working in the professional world will help me learn in the long run about urban planning and how it works. In the short term it will give me valuable experience upon graduating out of architecture school.
