I graduated in December of 2010 with my Master of Architecture degree from the School of Architecture and Construction Management at Washington State University.
My masters thesis, The Cost of Copper, focused on our cultural complicity towards environmentally destructive building practices, hard metal mining, for the sake of material gain within our constructions, and the resulting geo-social implications. A large scale installation, the work was installed on the WSU Campus in the Winter of 2010.
I also study typography, art, and literature, all of which have greatly impacted my approach towards architectural design.
An avid traveller, I have visited nearly all of North America, Japan, Holland, and spent the summer of 2010 in Eldoret, Kenya, helping with the design and construction of the Agape Life Academy with a fellow architectural graduate student. The experience showed me how much just the smallest amount of architecture/design can make such a large impact improving the lives of others. We can help. Architecture really can solve real problems, and its this idea that drives my future aspirations in the field.
Having worked nearly two years as a skilled carpenter for a large general contractor has afforded me valuable in field experience, crucial for communication between architects and contractors during project construction. I also spent a summer working as an architectural intern at a small local firm, contributing on tasks ranging from construction documents to early conceptual imagery.
I hope to continue my professional education and work for a fast paced international office; saving the world, one building at a time.
