About

I am a Basque emigré, architect, urban planner, designer, gardening aficionado and a New York City resident.

Born and raised in the Basque Country, I moved to Barcelona and attended the Escola Superior d’Arquitectura de Barcelona. I graduated as Architect and Urban Planner and in 2011 I moved to the US pursuing a career with a focus on international projects.

After almost a decade leading an acclaimed architecture firm in NYC I co-founded bloq studio in 2020; an architecture and design studio based in Brooklyn.

I am currently involved in the organization of the New York City Architecture Biennial and I collaborate with Amplified Voices Productions, an emerging photography and film production company with a focus in the empowerment of the BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities in the US.

bloq studio, New York, NY, US, Founding Partner

bloq studio is a Brooklyn-based architecture and design studio that operates at the intersection in between the analog world and digital technologies. In a world gravitating towards aesthetic homogeneity driven by the demands of globalization, we believe in the importance of craftsmanship in our profession while making the most of the advantages provided by technological avant-garde.

Our team is diverse and experienced, and our process is cooperative and transparent. We design durable, resilient and adaptable buildings for generations to come. And we believe that design founded on sensible thinking, respect and dignity is the path to creating meaningful architecture.

We speak five languages, represent cultures across the globe, and combine the knowledge of architectural traditions of Europe, West Indies and North America. Together we have participated in projects across 20 countries bringing inspiring visions to life and creating memorable human experiences.
