About

As Senior Project Architect, Jonathan has led design and planning efforts for numerous mixed-use, corporate/office, higher education, and residential projects both domestic and internationally.  His experience as a designer and team leader provides for greater understanding of project stakeholders and allows him to flawlessly coordinate multiple aspects of the project.  Before joining Bowen in Cleveland, Jonathan had worked in San Diego for Steven Lombardi Architect, and in Pittsburgh for EDGE Studio, Astorino/ Cannon, GBBN, and AE7. Jonathan continues to value excellence in design, and was awarded the AIA Silver Award for Gateway Station, making it his 5th AIA award for excellence in architecture since 2007.

Jonathan was born and raised in Pittsburgh.  He attended Pennsylvania State University and earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 1996.  Following his degree, Jonathan worked in the steel industry as a mechanical design engineer, and within five years had designed steel furnaces, coal conveyance systems, transit equipment, and other heavy industrial machinery.  Wanting to pursue a professional design career, Jonathan left Pittsburgh to attend the University of Toronto, Daniels School of Architecture.  It is there that he completed his professional Masters in Architecture, receiving the RAIC Honour Roll, an award given to the top students in each graduating class.  Growing up in Pittsburgh and working in the steel industry has had a lasting effect on Jonathan’s architectural interests.  He continues to explore the reinterpretation of the post-industrial landscape in America’s ‘rust belt’, and the juxtaposition of new building technologies with the aging infrastructure of northern urban centers.  He hopes to bring this same passion in his new role with Bowen in Cleveland.
