About

My background is unique. I have been a freelance designer for the past 5 years, and prior to that was a general contractor/business owner and metal fabricator/carpenter for 15 years. This unique combination of experiences has given me a diverse skill set that blends creative design, applied construction knowledge, and business acumen. I approach design projects with a practical, hands-on perspective, focusing not only on aesthetic appeal but also on structural feasibility and execution efficiency. My journey from metal fabrication and carpentry to design has enriched my work with a deep understanding of materials and craftsmanship, allowing me to innovate and solve problems in unique ways that bridge the gap between form and function.Top of Form

As a freelancer designer for the past 5 years, I have provided design, prototyping, 3d modeling, construction documents, permitting, and project administration services for a wide variety of projects in 19 U.S. states as well as Australia, Canada, Estonia, France, and Saudi Arabia. For example, I designed a 13,000 square-foot Gothic Revival mixed-use barn in Shelby, North Carolina; an historic rebuild of Packard Park – a field that hosted games by the Fort Wayne Daisies, who were a part of the All-American Girls’ Professional Baseball League, in the years after World War II; and a single-level, waterfront vacation home outside of Austin, Texas. I produced the design and construction document plan set and coordinated permitting through the Army Corps of Engineers and Department of State Lands for a home addition, renovation, tiered deck system, and dock with a gangway on the Willamette River in West Linn, Oregon. I am proficient with AutoCAD, SketchUp, Photoshop, Enscape, Microsoft Office, Revit, Rhino, V-Ray, and Twinmotion. I have received my AAS in Architecture from Portland Community College and am currently pursuing a B.Arch from the Boston Architectural College.

In my 15-year background as a general contractor/business owner with five structural welding certifications, I led my business (with two Pacific Northwest locations and two crews) in providing metal fabrication, welding, carpentry, and concrete services for commercial, residential, and government projects. Some of my past clients include Oregon Metro, the Oregon Zoo, Portland International Airport, Gresham School District, Oregon Department of Revenue, the City of McMinnville, and New Seasons Market. As a general contractor, my primary emphasis was on undertaking projects that not only added tangible value but also fostered a sense of community within the area. I prioritized initiatives that contributed positively to the region’s fabric, aiming to enhance spaces through thoughtful design and construction. I hold the same values and objectives now, in my current work as a designer.
