About

I am a licensed Architect in New York State and also hold a license in Honduras.

I have been working in the architectural field since 1973, starting as a junior draftsman for industrial projects and big box stores just prior to transferring from Philadelphia Academy of Art to NYIT for the 5 year Bachelor of Architecture Program. I loved the job so much that I took a semester off from school to work in the field, traveling from Merrick, Long Island to Glen Rock NJ and later to Stamford Conn. every day. After working for Raidbard Associates at those two locations, I submitted my first materials samples board for my Building Materials and Construction class and was hired by my  professor, Geroge Meltzer/ Anthony DeSanto, AIA  It was then that I was given the opportunity to do Interior Design and FF&E for many bank additions, renovations and branding projects. It should be noted that my two years in art school provided me with an extensive art background including color, composition, 2d and 3d design as well as hand drawing, sculpture and architectural history.

In my second year at NYIT,  I was  recruited to work for Edward F. Knowles (Boston City Hall, Wolf Trap Farm Park) where I was to spend the next few years working full time, while completing my schooling at night. My thesis was an indoor ballet and concert hall, based on a possible future project at Wolf Trap for which I performed in depth acoustical studies, in addition to theater, concert hall design studies.  Later, I was to use that research in Mr. Knowles's work at Brooklyn Academy of Music.

Under his and his associate, John V. Immit's guidance, I progressed to Project Architect, designing, producing cd's and hand drawn presentations, creating bid packages, writing specifications and performing  construction administration for the Furman-DeFanti Artist  Loft in Soho, Keller- Zecha apartment in The Dakota, Brownstone Conversion and Residence for Mr Geoffrey Holder and several other high end residential projects including additions and gut renovations of residences and brownstones in and around NYC. Edward Knowles and John. Immitt were both knowledgeable and patient mentors. I was actively involved in all phases Architectural Practice. The importance of timeless design and the use of natural materials was emphasized strongly and remains a priority to this day.

I spent several years in the Bay Islands, Honduras , where I also obtained an Architectural License. While living there, I was involved in several Hospitality projects, for both Architectural and Construction Consultation as well as extensive FF&E including Art Consultation.  I also produced design build sets for single family homes (new homes and additions) remotely for American Home and Design here on Long Island during that period. I am fully versed in remote work and directed a production team of freelancers from Serbia, Russia and Honduras to produce CD's using only Skype and texting. Markups were on pdf's (Prior to Bluebeam)

I returned to the USA in 2014. Since then, I have held a number of technical roles with plenty of field work,  project management and construction administration proposals, RFI's, Procore as well as working with  NYC agencies such as the DDC, SCA, and DSF.

I am a technically knowledgeable designer  who has worn many hats through the years, as you will see from my work history that follows. I am capable of stepping into a project at any point to trouble shoot, I enjoy mentoring and I believe I have many talents to contribute to the right firm.

I am seeking the role of  Project Architect or Project Manager with a firm that allows me to perform administrative duties and mentoring while still being  involved in the aesthetics of the design such as  space planning, facade/elevation design, interior design or FF&E. I have a very wide range of experience in many project types from industrial to high end residential and hospitality.
