I graduated in Architecture from High Technical School of Architecture of Madrid (ETSAM) of UPM last January 21st, 2011. I have completed studio projects with Profs. Alberto Campo Baeza, María José Aranguren, José Manuel López-Peláez, Federico Soriano and Navarro Baldeweg. During my last academic year, I completed my graduation project in nine months, a length of time much shorter than the average (two years). It was a very insightful personal project, in that from start to finish I was able to consider all aspects of design and development, from preliminary research through to final structural calculations and detail design.
For the fourth year of my degree I was awarded a year-long international student scholarship from the Fakultät für Architecktur in Innsbruck. During this period I was tutored by prestigious architects such as Prof. P. Schumacher (Institut für Experimentelle Architektur).
In addition, the following year I was awarded an international scholarship to partake in an International Workshop at the Vastushilpa Foundation in Ahmedabad, India. With Balkrishna Doshi, I developed a Cooperation Project for the slums along the Sabarmati River front over a period of four months. This experience really marked my future as an architect. I realized that even with a lack of resources it is possible to construct buildings, for really impoverished people.
In Spain, I have worked frequently as intern with Buildworks Architects. Here, I worked on various interesting competitions, architectural restorations and also on private commissions. As well as the more direct aspects of architecture (design, drawing, modelling), I also learnt how a studio is managed and how administrative functions work. For example, I gained considerable knowledge with regard to cost-calculations and budgeting.
Since January I have been working for Bolles+Wilson Architekt Büro as an intern, and I am, and have been, taking part in different kinds of projects at various scales. During my internship we have received awards for several competitions.
