About

I am Yu Chang (Brian) Tseng, a recent graduate of the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Design where I received degree in Masters of Architecture and Certificate of Ecology Architecture. As an architectural designer and former broadcast media producer, I have experiences in working in different cultures and contexts across the United States, Canada and East Asia. As a dual citizen of Taiwan and Canada, I am comfortable to communicate my ideas in English, Mandarin and Japanese.

I have done variety of explorations in my three years of architecture training in Penn Design. Design projects involved research of mega structure plug-in system, research of megacity planning with AMO/OMA and research of ecology architecture. During my study in Penn Design, I incorporated my second background as former TV producer and created Motion Graphic video to introduce thoughtful building space from my design.

My passion to approach Architecture came from my experience while I was producing a singing competition show similar to American Idol in Taiwan. I realized “space” can be so flexible according to programs’ purposes. Stage design taught me building can create much impact than a simple shelter. I fascinated by the influence of architecture beyond building form and structure, thus I continue my study in University of Pennsylvania by learning architecture from experienced architects and firms such as Weiss & Manfredi, OMA/AMO, Gensler and etc…I am particular inspired by my studio directors Marion Weiss and Dr.William Braham, their system design thinking introduced architecture as a medium to solve social and environmental problems. Throughout the studios, I was able to use architecture theory such as plug-in system or sustainable architecture to generate design to target site and environmental problems.

I am confident that my experience in working across many countries and fields can deliver creative viewpoints for the future architecture.
