I am an Ohio native turned Brooklyn resident in the process of obtaining my architecture license.
My educational background consists of a Master of Architecture from Miami University and a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Cincinnati.
So far my work experiences have been at smaller firms. The positive of working at smaller firms allowed me to be involved with just about all aspects of a project. My experience at Nelligan White was certainly an example of this. I worked on everything from the scope phase to the construction document phase to DOB filing and on to construction administration.
Long term goals include branching out into other design fields.
Some of my biggest interests outside of design are film and travel. I love classic Hollywood as well as foreign films. My interest in film is so great that my Netflix dvd queue is maxed out at 500. My co-op experiences, while at UC, allowed me to travel to new places. When I lived in Hilton Head, SC I made an effort to explore the nearby area from Savannah to Charleston, to Atlanta and St. Augustine. Studio trips also helped from the 2nd year trip to Chicago, the 3rd year trip to New York, and the graduate trip to Dallas. My biggest trip so far was after my graduation from UC; my roommate and I traveled through 12 European cities. It was that trip that reaffirmed my love of architecture, travel, and history.
Nelligan White Architects, New York City, Designer
This firm worked mainly with city agency projects, NYCHA, SCA and DDC. I was involved with nearly all stages of projects from scope report to construction documents and on to construction administration. A large part of my time was devoted to managing a $172 million NYCHA project, Baruch and Lavanburg.
Other duties included DOB filing, managing consultants, assisting with proposals, site surveys, deficiency walkthroughs and quality control.
Technicon Design Group, Inc, Ottawa, OH, US, Summer Intern
A large part of my time here was spent on creating renderings of projects using Revit and Photoshop. Projects ranged from commercial structures, to industrial, agriculture related, and sometimes residential.
Court Atkins Group, Bluffton, SC, US, Co-Op Student
This was my third Co-Op through UC back at the same firm.
Court Atkins Group, Bluffton, SC, US, Co-Op Student
For my second co-op, this small firm largely focused on high end residential. My efforts were largely geared toward schematic and construction document phases. Other duties included delivering drawing submissions and creating material boards.
DNK Architects, Cincinnati, OH, US, Co-Op Student
This was my first co-op through the University of Cincinnati. My duties included creating schematic drawings, conducting field survey, and assisting in the accessibility review of a brand new apartment complex in the downtown area of Cincinnati.
