Adelaide is a modular home designed by Ray Kappe, FAIA, and drawn, detailed and produced by Livinghomes to be LEED Gold. I was the Project Architect on this home, working on it for almost 3 years and managing the project in full from Schematic Design through Certificate of Occupancy. My responsibilities included everything from producing and managing the design documents to site work and final installation. I worked with the Cities of Santa Monica and Los Angeles to permit the home, as the nature of the property boundaries required coordination between the two entities. In responsible charge of the integrated project team, I also worked directly with the Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, and Civil Engineers as well as Landscape, Solar, and Pool Consultants through design and construction to implement LEED strategies toward Gold Level certification. Livinghomes also served as the construction manager for the project and I was able to be on site often to respond to RFI’s, coordinate consultant work, and maintain that the home was built to the contract documents.
