It is an adventure led by Charlotte Gainsbourg and her partner Dominique Dutreix, in which it is necessary, with soft steps, with gentleness and respect, to reveal the intimacy of Serge Gainsbourg and the genius of his work.
ORY.architecture is responsible for the architectural design and execution of the work on Maison Gainsbourg: at 5 bis rue de Verneuil, his historic house with a surface area of 130 sq.m in which he lived from 1969 to 1991, as well as on the ground floor of 14-16 rue de Verneuil in an 18th century building, which becomes a museum space. In these 360 sq.m formerly a publishing house and then a wellness area, the profound restructuring of the space reveals volumes under glass roof and vaults which accommodate a museum, a bookstore-boutique and the Gainsbarre: daytime café and piano bar by night.
Immersive and initiatory, these spaces are punctuated by animations in a scenography which transcribes the architectural vocabulary and the material library of 5 bis rue de Verneuil as it was designed by Serge Gainsbourg and Andrée Higgins at the end of the 60s. It is a black setting with white frames in which the spirit of Serge Gainsbourg's universe hovers.
