CRASH URBANISM! is a project that demonstrates our system and methodology in a 3000 unit masterplan for developing typological social housing in extreme and irregular geographies, such as the highlands of the Andes. Through a series of urban islands designed to adapt to irregular typographies, we have created a highly transformative archipelago that is based on the formation of platforms, which can morph into any slope or site condition. On the architectural scale, through spatial iterations using the operations of expansion and reconfiguration, we have designed a housing typology for these platforms based on flexibility and anticipated change over time.
Iterations can help us foresee and conceive all possible realities in generating spatial malleability. Iterations can helps us create flexible and transformative works that can develop and co-exist with the changes of our everyday context and the complex formations of our metropolis. Iterations become integral in the understanding of our existence in time and space.
