Single Parent Co-working Space: The approach for designing the modular block is rooted in an innovative blend of furniture and architecture specifically tailored for a community center serving single parents and their children. This space serves a dual purpose: providing children with a safe, engaging play area while their parents work nearby, and offering a flexible solution to spatial design. Recognizing the unique needs of both children and adults in this environment, the modular blocks are designed not merely as physical barriers but as an interactive landscape that fosters play, learning, and safety. The main focus is on modularity and adaptability. The blocks can be easily assembled, reconfigured, or expanded to meet the evolving needs of the community center. This flexibility allows the space to adapt to various activities, group sizes, and age ranges, ensuring longevity and sustainability.
To make use of the high ceilings, stadium stairs are introduced by stacking the blocks. The stairs feature large open boxes where parents can work individually or collaboratively with other parents. The blocks are also used as partition walls to create spaces for children to play or nap. Within this space, the blocks connect to each other with additional pieces to form a play and climbing frame for the children. Additionally, the space includes a seminar area and cafe where parents can interact with each other, fostering learning and community building. Overall, Box Park’s design focuses on creating a versatile, engaging, and supportive environment for single parents and their children.
