About 

Nicholas McWhirter is a 2003 graduate of Texas A&M University and holds a Bachelor of Environmental Design with a minor in Art & Architectural History. He also earned a Master of Architecture degree from The University of Texas at Arlington and graduated in 2005.

A registered architect in the state of Texas, Nick specializes in design visualization, video and sound editing, graphic design, and photography. He joined SHM in 2015 after 10 years of experience as a design and visualization leader at a large commercial firm.

McWhirter has been honored to receive the Alan Stacell Award for Design Excellence, and the People’s Choice Award for his painted work in the MSC ArtFest Show; both at Texas A&M. He has been awarded twice by AIA Dallas; a Merit Award for his team’s proposal of the “Dallas Center for Architecture Design Competition” in 2008, and a First Place Award for his team’s entry in “A Temporary Façade: Veiling the Statler Hilton” competition in 2009. Most recently, he led a team that received the Grand Prize in the 2012 "Dallas Complete Streets Visual Essay Contest." 

Nick is interested in early classical music, contemporary art, and bánh mì sandwiches. He's a Dallas native, and fifth-generation Texan, and lives in Lake Highlands with his wife and two sons.
