USC School of Architecture’s annual Design Charrette concluded recently with five unique design-builds being awarded across three categories of the contest, which is now in its twelfth edition.
Tasked with creating a Media Incubator Center for Creative Content, students from the 4th-year, 5th-year, and Graduate course levels worked in teams of three to design a space that can support a wide array of creative services including film and video production, costuming, props, and other modern theater operations facilities that are common to the types of projects exemplified in Diller Scofidio + Renfro’s recently-completed Prior Performing Arts Center in Massachusetts and the new David Geffen Hall at Lincoln Center by Diamond Schmitt and TBWTA.
Jurors for this year’s contest included Koning Eizenberg Principal Julie Eizenberg, Destination Crenshaw CEO Jason W. Foster, Raphael Pereira, RAIC, LEED AP., Senior Designer at Gensler, and HLW Los Angeles Managing Director Sejal Sonani. Scroll down to read more about each team’s winning design.
