The Phoenix/Tempe Metropolitan area suffers from a superabundance of aging and underutilized strip malls. The goal of the competition was to re-envision the function and nature of these urban structures and develop prototypes for future adaptive reuse. Our team wanted the strip to have a 24-hour life cycle and a higher density, so we added a residential court and an elevated commercial office block to a bland retail mall.
