Jerusalem, IL
Situated in the charming Baka neighborhood of Jerusalem, this building was designed to meet the clients’ brief for three residential units – two apartments for the family, and a third guest apartment. The clients wanted a contemporary house that responded to their real living needs. Good ventilation, natural light and outdoor spaces were of paramount importance.
The lower unit opens to the surrounding garden with large expanses of glass. The upper unit’s public spaces are organized around a central open courtyard. A top-lit atrium intersects the two interlocking units bringing natural light deep into the center. This slot of light also forms the central circulation spine. On the house’s street facade a minimalist textured stone plane turns its back to the western sun allowing only controlled light to filter through.
The house is detailed in a clean modern aesthetic.
