DESCRIPTIVE MEMORY
THE SITE ALWAYS SPEAKS TO US
Architecture is a constant dialogue with its surroundings.
This apartment, located in the modern and thriving Santa María residential complex, is unique because of how its design is projected onto the slab of the upper floor of the building's parking lot. Taking advantage of this condition, an outdoor space is created through a terrace, pool, and garden, which embraces the interior of the apartment.
Inside we find two levels; the first is the social area of the apartment, which has a living room, den, dining room and kitchen. Here there is a dialogue between the exterior and interior of the space, one which is established by glass sliders that visually natural light to be provided to the entire home.
The bedrooms and family room/study space lie on the upper level of the apartment.
A fluid and continuous atmosphere is created between the terrace and the first floor of the house through a series of exterior connections. These shared spaces create a naturally warm, mixed used space that welcomes a variety of activities throughout the day.
The focus of the user experience occurs mainly in the interior space, which starts from the use of the materials that harmoniously define and conceptualize the project. By maintaining a constant use of finishes throughout the apartment a harmonious design is achieved, one that is neatly accentuated with a few touches of color on the furniture and detailing.
Combining stones such as Ceppo di Gre and natural wood paneling give warmth to the spaces, while also capturing the modern language that the design called for in its use of furniture and materials.
Lastly, a vertical conversation of spaces plays a fundamental role in the design and its materialization, one that is present in the design of wooden louvers that morph into the stair handrail.
A projects essence all lies within the way in which the spaces express themselves and how they offer a comfortable place to inhabit. A home is where we share the most important parts of our lives.
