The centenary Shaughnessy Building in Old Montreal has long combined the charm of la belle époque with a vibrant location, steps from the bustling Old Port, Victoria Square metro station and the downtown core.

Now, with a spectacular extension by Lemay, the 1912 commercial building marries a striking glass façade and massive windows with high-quality, classical materials that echo the project’s prestigious surroundings. The project made maximum use of the adjacent abandoned lot, extending each of 10 floors northward by 29 feet and opening up stunning views of Montreal’s Quartier international.

Despite an extremely confined space, in a high-density area, this award-winning project was fast-tracked for delivery within 14 months.
