,RECYCLED´ SUBURBAN PARK ZILINA
Chosen area is situated in the North of Slovakia in the city of Žilina. This space lies on the border between the city and countryside, including the river. There are a lot of problems in the target area, but also huge potential for more meaningful usage and development .
, RECYCLING AS GIVING NEW SENSE TO OLD THINGS´
The aim was not to build something completely new, but to recreate an already existing situation. We propose to change unused, polluted, disrupted spaces to meaningful areas attractive for citizens and visitors. We gave waste and unneeded material straight from the site new functions, we turned old ties to new paths, old house to new station, old buildings to new museums, old mining constructions to nesting spots, old tower to viewpoint and climbing wall, drug treatment to dog therapy, dump to hill, etc. We designed new spaces for sport (skating, biking, climbing, hiking, shooting, paintball, fishing, swimming, rowing...), relax ( rest in nature, walks, camping...), creative activities ( workshops, happenings, exhibitions, competitions, crafts..), education (history, wildlife, birdwatching, school in nature...) and special activities (dog drill, dog therapy...). New functions are targeted to all age categories, different needs and interests. The offer
is aimed to partial time activities as well as all day trip or longer stay. This proposal of RECYCLED SUBURB PARK is resolving the existing problems of the chosen area and can provide interesting means of spending free time in contact with the city and nature.
