KTGY-designed Expo Walk Wins Best Design of a Multi-Family Community – For Sale in SoCal MAME Awards

IRVINE, Calif. – KTGY, a leading full-service architecture, branding, interior and planning firm focused on residential, retail, hospitality and mixed-use developments, today announced that KTGY’s excellence in residential design and planning has been recognized by The Greater Sales and Marketing Council and the Building Industry Association (BIA) at the 2021 SoCal MAME Awards ceremony. Expo Walk in Los Angeles received the SoCal MAME Award for “Best Design of a Multi-Family Community – For Sale.” This year’s competition drew more than 300 entries. Finalists and winners were celebrated on October 9th in a gala ceremony in Anaheim, California.

Designed by KTGY, Expo Walk is an enclave of 78 contemporary, for-sale townhomes located in the heart of Los Angeles in Leimert Park. Built by The Olson Company, these well-appointed, new townhomes feature up to three bedrooms, three-and-a-half bathrooms, open-plan living spaces and spacious kitchens in a gated community.

“The design of these contemporary, new townhomes was inspired by the architecture of Irving Gill and can be seen throughout the community from the simple massing forms to the arched entries and openings enhancing the decks and porches,” said Alan Scales, AIA, a principal at KTGY.

By incorporating two building types, architects were able to maximize the density on the site. “A mix of townhomes and flats make up the two building types. The flats occupy the corner units of these buildings and interlock with the townhome-style units. This diversity of floor plan options allows for a greater range in affordability for buyers,” Scales noted.

Scales continues, “The three-story townhomes provide direct garage access, first-floor entries with a bedroom down, a large living room, dining, kitchen and a den on the second floor and all bedrooms on the third floor for privacy and views of downtown.”

Located steps from the creative businesses of Exposition Blvd. and the Expo/Crenshaw Metro Station, Expo Walk makes it fast and easy to get to many of LA’s most important work and entertainment hubs such as Downtown LA (six miles), the University of Southern California (three miles), Culver City’s Helms Bakery District (six miles) and Santa Monica (11 miles).
