Energy Pavilion

Temporary Sculptural Pavilion
Location: V&A Museum of Childhood, London
Budget: $12,000

KSR took part in the 2016 Pavilion competition for the V&A Museum of Childhood Gardens.

The Theme for the Pavilion was “Energy”, and we turned to natural phenomenon to inspire our design. We created a spiralling vortex concept to represent the Coriolis Effect, which is one of the rare visible examples of the twisting forces at work behind all moving particles on Earth.

The Energy Pavilion encourages and celebrates interaction with both visitors and nature; the arms that swirl out from the ground waver gently in response to the wind and to touch, and the twisting mirrored discs reflect the sunlight, creating a structure which is constantly responding to an ever-changing environment.
