The era of ‘digital design’ is over, this is not a declaration against computation but a question and understanding of ongoing transformations in architectural theory and material culture.

In the past 20 years or so, digital design has grown immensely within the field of architecture.  However while the world’s relationship with technology continues to expand, design’s relation to tech has stayed within the realm of Cartesian software, constrained to our monitors.

By developing a live workflow with precise digital/physical armatures we were able to prototype different method of working that has both exactness and the “tremble” of the designer’s hand simultaneously.”

ILL.Mannered focuses on bringing form exploration back into the physical realm. The next stage in the evolutionary cycle is combining digital and physical environments. The idea that immersive forms and frameworks can be studied digitally and compared physically, highlighting both the disjuncture and marriage between the ‘real’ and the ‘fake’
