The Psychedelic Sanctuary is a concept developed for the Ice Hotel - a space made entirely of carved ice from the local river that offers a safe haven for sleep and also inspires imagination. It is a meditative, rhythmic environment that astounds the senses.
This sanctuary echos the structure of churches, temples,
and mosques that were built before the industrial revolution.
Arches are carved out of a series of parallel sheets of ice
that frame the sleeping pod. There are two paths - one that
loops the sanctuary and another that delivers the guest to
their bed.
Each sheet of ice is bathed in LED lights on the warm color
spectrum. The illuminated arches create a comforting
experience, that blends into the cooler blue tones of the
vaulted space. At the end of the sanctuary’s tunnel is a rose
window wall etched in snice (snow-ice).
