Kimberly V.K.H. Nguyen is a Vietnamese-American designer and engineer. She sees design as a faith-based profession, one that requires belief in something that does not yet exist.
Her theoretical work explores boundaries and architecture - the physical and psychological extents of an environment. Her current research investigates identity and the potential of different structures to support those who are vulnerable in our society.
Nguyen earned her B.S. in Architectural/Civil Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin, and her Masters in Architecture at Columbia University in New York City. Before founding Studio Frogwi, she worked at award-winning firms LTL Architects and Latent Productions. She also helped launch GSAPP Death Lab, a research group focused on reimagining our relationship with mortality, space, and the metropolis. Nguyen’s projects have been published in ACADIA, ArchDaily, Wired, and Urban Magazine, and she was recipient of the GE Foundation’s Imagination at Work visualization grand prize in 2013
