I am an Irish Architect with 4 - 5 years experience. I hold a Bachelor of Architecture (Honours), Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Architecture and I also have a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Architectural Technology having completed the respective courses in Waterford Institute of Technology.
Having worked and studied in Ireland for the past number of years I have travelled to New York to begin what I hope will be a long and rewarding career in architecture and I would be delighted to bring all my passion, experience and energy to bear at your firm. I hope to continue to learn, develop and improve on my skill set whilst also contributing to a collaborative working environment. I currently hold a J1 intern visa, which enables me to work immediately and up until November 2016. At that point I will be eligible to apply for other visas that would allow me to stay permanently in the United States.
I am self motivated, hard-working, competent, and punctual. I am very passionate and dedicated to my work. During my time in Waterford Institute of Technology I received the ‘John Roberts Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement’ three years in a row. This I believe is due to my ability to produce convincing concepts, design quality spaces and follow them through with a clear, competent and effective presentation. I believe in creating unique spaces, primarily based on a tectonic approach, with an emphasis on expression of materials.
I have previously worked as an apprentice carpenter while studying Architectural Technology. After graduating from this, I then worked as an Architectural Technologist in 3 different practices where I gained good work experience, working on various small, medium and large scale projects ranging from residential, commercial and governmental. I then decided to undertake the Architecture course in WIT. During this course I worked part-time as a Junior Architect and Architectural Technologist for DoranCray Ltd. and since graduating I have worked full-time for the firm. Please refer to my resume and references for details.
As part of my college and work experience I have become proficient in various software including Autocad, Revit, 3Ds Max, Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office. I am a certified 2013 Revit professional having completed the course and training set out by ArcDocs, registered Autodesk trainers. Being experienced in this wide range of software allows me to learn others at a fast pace. I have strong design, presentation and communication skills. I have also gained experience in creating concept designs, model making, computer drawings, 3D-visualizations, surveying, planning applications, tender packages, building construction details and on-site supervision.
