This design was preceded by a rigorous programming  design. Each piece of the program was carefully selected, named and sized. The program called for a campus center for the University of Tennessee. After completely a book outlining the entire program for the campus center, the design turned to the site. Since the campus revolves around pedestrian traffic moving through the university, the building was based upon regulating lines. This allowed paths to be created to and from the building and even through the building.
