Stages 0 to 3
Collaboration with Camilo Rebelo Studio
2013
Spider Villa is the first professional project I participated in. It
is also one of those in which I left a considerable personal
creative footprint. I was pleased to begin the design from its
very first stages. It all started with a building site print and a
blank white drawing paper sheet. I was kindly trusted to
explore different movements and design a completely new
solution, with all the intrinsic freedom needed for this
process. After several discussions with the team and major
suggestions and improvements done, this is the result.
The villa remits to the architectural archetype of the structural wall as the basic composition principal. The theme consists of the design of a conceptual line in the site that begins and ends on its edges establishing a division between the land amid the constructed matter – villa - and the space left - the garden. The wall possesses an edgy character within the private and public spheres of the spaces alongside the site constituting an interstitial limit with spacial accidents. The composition indicates a path from the entry in the land that acts as a portico, being matter betwixt exterior-exterior or interior-exterior. There is a sensorial mysterious play of discovery towards which one is not able to immediately perceive what goes on behind the limit, namely the interior-exterior, private-public character.
