Renaissance Hotel Mayfair

The Mayfair Renaissance Hotel project is truly a rebirth of an existing 1970’s office building into a full-service 196 room hotel. The existing structure, located at the bustling corner of North Avenue and Highway 100, was stripped to its concrete frame and a new skin will transform the façade into an updated contemporary building.

The first floor of the tower will feature the hotel lobby, lounge, and bar. A two-story addition is being added to the west side of the existing structure to make room for a destination restaurant and a 4,500-square-foot grand ballroom. The existing mechanical penthouse floor, with spectacular views of downtown, the regional medical campus, and the stadium, is being repurposed as specialty meeting spaces and a state-of-the-art fitness center.

The reuse of the building’s concrete structure provided substantial schedule and cost advantages for the development, while the new metal panel and curtainwall cladding systems deliver an updated aesthetic and identity for the building, Mayfair Mall, and the high traffic intersection. The design of the building’s new façade was conceived as a field of punched windows in a dark metal panel, supported by a masonry base. The two-story addition was conceived as a light-toned wood volume to express the restaurant’s identity and brand. The wood mass holds an imbedded volume of a dark metal open tube mass which cantilevers over a curated landscape that offers a buffer between the building and the street.
