*DUTIES, ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND RELATED SKILLS:

CLIENT CONSULTATION – Consultant, researcher, designer, AutoCad designer, project manager. Act as Client liaison for permit entitlement process, including City Council presentations. Update Client with preliminary estimates on cost and construction time. Give recommendation to the Client on 1.) Evaluation of most economical and appropriate methods of proposed designs
2.) Evaluation of constructability and local compatibility methods with Contractor. Assist Client with bidding negotiations. Act as Client’s representative during construction for all projects.

DESIGN, PRODUCTION AND PROJECT MANAGEMENT for various planning, commercial, municipal and residential projects. The detailed outline below summarizes typical tasks I directly perform during these architectural assignments.

DESIGN – (RESEARCH - INTERPRET - ANALYZE- CREATE)
Identify/define the design problem. Negotiate Client / Architect agreement and execute contract. PROGRAM ANALYSIS—meet with Client to determine planning objectives and requirements. Collect and analyze site investigation research/ documentation of architectural data. PREPARE feasibility studies and related reports.

SCHEMATIC PHASE – Solve the design problem creatively. Execute initial design concept in freehand sketch form and PRESENT to Client. Submit concept design to various agencies during entitlement phase for approvals and give public presentations both to neighborhood stakeholders and municipal government hearings.

DEVELOP DESIGN with AutoCad or 3d modeling to allow Client & Consultants to visualize the 3-dimensional aspects.
Coordinate the design concept among MEP, Structural, Civil Engineering and other consulting engineering disciplines;

DESIGN PRODUCTION – (TECHNICAL OVERSIGHT – COMMUNICATION)
Perform code analysis of the building design to assure compliance with state, local building codes, zoning laws, fire regulations, ADA and other ordinances. PREPARE design drawings in AutoCad or BIM format to ensure precision and efficiency of design intent. Oversee and direct staff preparing detailed drawings, specifications and other technical documents. Review & finalize contract drawings and specifications; coordination and communication with MEP, Structural, Civil Engineering and other consulting engineering disciplines.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT – (TECHNICAL OVERSIGHT - ORGANIZATIONAL)
Execute the design problem during construction. Administer the Construction Contract and perform technical oversight of project during construction. Review material submittals, shop drawings and construction testing. Attend Construction progress meetings. Review Contractor’s payment application and schedule of values. Enlist recommendations from MEP, Structural, Civil Engineering and other consulting engineering disciplines. Issue RFI’s, proposals for Change of Work and other construction correspondence. Review Change Orders. PREPARE punch list for non-compliant work or deficiencies. Issue certificate of substantial / final completion.

ROME STUDIES PROGRAM: With courses ranging from design studios, drawing and watercolor classes to architectural theory and architectural history, the program’s emphasis is on urbanism and the traditional city, classical architecture and the design of contemporary buildings in a classical manner following the precedents of Vitruvius, Palladio, Borromini and Bernini.
