Job Title:                   Designer/Draftsperson

Reporting to:            Job Captain/Senior Project Manager on a day to day basis and ultimately to the Principal

Responsibilities:      Assist in various phases of design, development and construction.

·      To understand the project design

·      To prepare, and develop, under the guidance of the Job Captain/Senior Project Manager, where required, drawings, models, images and other documents relating to the design and development of the project

·      To assist where required in the co-ordination of project information

·      Thorough knowledge of and compliance with Paul Brant Williger, Architect Inc. procedures and standards.

·      To contribute, or otherwise assist in project related and/or office related responsibilities as required

·      Maintain up to date knowledge of required tasks to be completed

·      To seek, and record evidence of, professional development, such as Architectural Licensing and/or continuing education/accreditation, LEED Certification, and involvement with outside professional organizations.

·      Able to demonstrate ability to undertake the above responsibilities

·      A relevant professional or post-graduate degree

·      Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a team

·      Ability to take initiative in response to direction or instruction

·      Ability to understand design decisions

·      Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines efficiently

·      Good written and verbal communication skills

·      Ability to demonstrate initiative and a proactive approach to daily tasks

·      Ability to manage and prioritize tasks and time efficiently

·      Good interpersonal skills and able to work independently and as part of a team

·      Good organizational skills

·      Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information

·      Flexible attitude and ability to participate on a project at any phase or given point in time

·      Knowledge and working ability in relevant computer software programs

·      Previous experience working in an architectural practice

This job description reflects the core activities of the role although there will be changes in the emphasis of responsibilities as required from time to time due to the specific nature of any given project.  There is a requirement for the Draftsperson to recognize this and adopt a flexible approach to the position and work.
