WORKac is currently looking to hire a talented, self-starter and well-rounded Director of Communications and Marketing who will be responsible for the firm’s outreach and overall presentation as well as develop creative marketing and innovative story-telling across multiple platforms and towards sustainable, strategic and creative growth for the future.

Working closely with the firm’s principals and under their direction, responsibilities will include but not be limited to: marketing including leading and managing RFP/RFQ; digital communication and marketing including the creation, production and management of content for WORKac’s digital media platforms: website, e-communications, and social media; leading and managing Press/PR prospects and responses; designing and implementing strategies for WORKac’s digital media tools to reflect the practice’s body of work, ethos and support its future goals.

We are looking for a creative thinker and problem solver who can take initiative in shaping this position, articulate ideas, frame challenges, highlight opportunities, and offer solutions to become an integral part of the WORKac team.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

1. Marketing, Business Development, Press/Awards
a. General Business Development

  • Establish strategies and proactive efforts in finding and pursuing business opportunities.
  • Plan and direct promotional campaigns, identify market trends.
  • Leverage projects and general firm strengths to attract new opportunities.
  • Identify and focus efforts on key project types and critically review project opportunities for the firm.
  • Leverage principal’s connections to academic and cultural institutions.
  • Implement and manage prospects portfolio with outreach and follow-up.


  • Research upcoming projects and RFP/RFQ.
  • Supervise, coordinate and execute RFP/RFQ applications, working closely with firm principals and consultants to execute overall graphic and content of submitted materials.
    • Develop consistent voice through strong writing skills and deep knowledge of firm’s body of work to present the firm’s strategic and creative strengths and experience.
    • Develop strong, consistent and concise writing with a voice that is clear and engaging.
    • Manage the firm’s extensive production of images. Maintain PR folders and overall organization of digital and printed material.
    • Manage, track, and report on analytics across digital platforms and implement data-driven decisions to improve and evolve the practice’s marketing content and digital strategies.
      • Web direction, E-mail marketing and newsletters
    • Manage all content for WORKac’s website including copy and digital assets; oversee design, accessibility, maintenance, growth, and API integrations.
    • Implement regular updates to texts, images and press articles for the company website.
    • Coordinate with principals, project leaders and firm staff to maintain continuous updates of projects, news, bios and other.
    • Create and execute content strategy for regular newsletters, ensuring consistent quality, formatting, tone, and voice.
    • Develop content for targeted e-mail communications, including copy writing/editing, asset gathering, and creation of new content.
    • Monitor statistics and share campaign reports; make data-driven recommendations for improving e-mail strategies and ensuring successful campaigns.
    • Maintain lists of contacts.
      • Social Media Strategy
  • Lead on strategy, planning, and execution, including creative content development and distribution, follower growth and engagement, and establishing cohesive messaging across platform placement, with a particular focus on Instagram.
    • Facilitate online community engagement to increase awareness of WORKac. Shape and strengthen consistent and compelling voice and visual presence.
    • Manage social media content and growth. Track and analyze engagement rates on all digital platforms; generate monthly reports.
    • Ongoing planning for future digital initiatives and technologies.
  • Evaluate success of submittals overall on a three months’ basis.
  • Follow-up with submissions to receive feedback.

c. Press and Awards

  • Strategize press outreach, awards timelines and other opportunities such as exhibitions and international biennales.
  • Engage and communicate with press; execute day-to day press requests and follow-ups.
  • Coordinate and oversee photography of projects.
  • Oversee and execute submissions of awards.

2. Communications and Digital Marketing
a. General Digital Marketing

  • Create a multi-level marketing strategy that includes PR, social media, and newsletter communication to increase overall awareness of the firm domestically and internationally.
  • Implement strategy and coordinate across platforms with particular emphasis on Instagram and other opportunities for compelling and consistent visual story-telling.
  • Create new opportunities for creative content – videos and new media opportunities. 

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in architecture, communications, digital design, art history or other related field; 3–5 years in communications, marketing and social media strategy and management, with a strong focus on digital content creation and distribution. Proficient knowledge of websites, e-communications, social media platforms and internet culture, particularly in the context of the design field. Creative thinker with leadership and initiative who can offer new ideas, frame challenges, highlight opportunities and provide practical solutions. Excellent visual sensibility with a strong super-detailed graphic and strong writing skills and experience in creating engaging, bright copy and dynamic creative content. Advanced proficiency of Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Cloud – In-Design, Photoshop and Illustrator. Knowledge of animation and film editing suites a great plus. Fluency in CMS, with a working knowledge of HTML. Strong knowledge of Mailchimp, familiarity with API and 3rd party integrations. Experience with Google Analytics.
